About The Role

FDEM (Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship)

Would you like to see a product on a supermarket shelf and think that you played an important role in getting it there? Are you looking for a career where you can get stuck in and be part of our drive for efficiency, continuous improvement and automation?

Do you want to be part of a team?  Do you take pride in reaching high standards? And feel satisfied when you can help people and solve issues? Then this opportunity could be for you.

Here at Samworth Brothers we are proud to offer our Food and Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship to give you a great springboard to start your career in the food industry. Working with our trusted learning partners we can give you a springboard into your career as an Engineer. You will be gaining a recognised qualification, and the apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to put in what you’ve learnt at college back into practice in the workplace. Through the apprenticeship you will be given invaluable support and insight from the highly skilled engineering teams around you.

We are a well-established group, owned by the Samworth Family since 1896 and we have grown to employ 10,000 people across the UK.  We produce many high-quality own-label products for major retailers, and you may know some of our famous brands such as Ginsters, Soreen, Urban Eat, West Cornwall Pasty Company and Dickinson & Morris.  We continue to innovate and have exciting ambitions for our future growth.

Your FDEM Apprenticeship

We have an opportunity at our Manton Woods site in Worksop

No day is ever the same as you will be working on a variety tasks while gaining experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering. Your day could include carrying out work on planned maintenance, attending breakdown repairs and helping complete project work.

For the first three years of your programme you will be attending college on a residential block release at BMet College in Birmingham during each term. Following each block release you will have the opportunity to put your learning back into practise at your site. Throughout your apprenticeship you will also be supported by a workplace mentor. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will receive a Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Maintenance Engineering, a new standard which Samworth Brothers were very proud to be part of the trailblazing group to create - a qualification which has truly been designed for the industry, by the industry!

We will pay you a competitive starting salary for your job role (much higher than the National Minimum Wage for apprentices) and we will also pay all costs and expenses for block-release study at BMet College.
