The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a hands-on, multi-skilled Engineering Leading Hand to join our Engineering team at our Sausage and Deli factories. This is a key operational role, working on a rotating Panama shift pattern—2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights. You’ll be responsible for leading the on-shift engineering function, ensuring that planned preventative maintenance is carried out, responding quickly to breakdowns, and supporting production targets. You will work closely with Production and the wider Engineering team to keep things running smoothly.
- Lead and manage the on-shift engineering team to support production operations effectively
- Carry out hands-on maintenance and repairs on a range of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Ensure all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks are completed to schedule
- Accurately document maintenance activities, part usage, and shift handovers
- Liaise with production, supervise contractors, and support continuous improvement initiatives

- Time-served multi-skilled engineer, preferably with an electrical bias
- Recognised engineering qualification (C&G Part 2 or NVQ Level 3 minimum)
- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to lead by example and manage engineering issues under pressure
- Hands-on, proactive approach with a focus on team performance and continuous improvement
- Understanding of health and safety compliance and standards
