The Opportunity
Looking for a dynamic Supply Chain Manager to join our team at Walker & Son (W&S)! Your main goal will be to ensure timely deliveries to our customers while optimizing production planning and raw material scheduling. As a key member of the site Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you'll play a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction for W&S. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the entire supply chain function, including planning, scheduling, inbound logistics, and dispatch operations.
This role calls for strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders, including the Samworth Brothers Group Supply Chain, SBSC, and our valued customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Systems Development and Management:
Drive strategic development at our Charnwood and Abbey sites.
Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
Maintain planning and logistics platforms for optimal operational performance.
Capacity Management:
Maintain a robust capacity model in collaboration with the Site Director.
Make recommendations for capital investment based on capacity data.
Planning:
Collaborate with Operations and Engineering Managers to plan raw materials, distribution, and more.
Support New Product Development (NPD) process and incorporate trials into planning schedules.
Supplier and Customer Management & Forecasting:
Communicate regularly with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries.
Provide short and long-term forecasts to suppliers for effective planning.
Stock Management:
Minimize off-site stock and associated storage costs.
Tight control of raw materials to reduce redundant stock write-offs.
Continuous Improvement (CI):
Work with Site CI Manager to embed Supply Chain team into Manufacturing Excellence workstreams.
Distribution:
Establish forums with operations, commercial teams, and distribution centres for efficient communication.
Team Leadership:
Ensure team structures enable delivery of targets.
Foster an environment of continuous improvement and change embracement.
Conduct regular performance reviews and enforce company policies.

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Successfully leading planning and supply chain teams in a short shelf life, chilled environment.
- Developing and presenting capacity models.
- Manging complex sites with large numbers of suppliers of raw materials.
- Running / implementing ERP systems.
- Leading and developing large, diverse teams in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
- In depth understanding of demand planning and scheduling.
- Excellent Excel skills and the ability to present clear and accurate data upon which capital decisions can be made. Proven Capital Investment experience.
- Proven ability to lead collaboratively across functions and cross category.
- A passion to motivate, coach and develop a team.
- Proven ability to drive sustainable improvements.
