The Opportunity
We have a great opportunity for you to join our team in Shared Services based in Callington, Cornwall. Working with all Samworth Brothers businesses and Group Finance within the monthly Finance timetable on key processes of cash operations, financial accounting, tax and management accounting. Gatekeepers for control and compliance within Finance Shared Services whilst offering exceptional customer service to Samworth Brothers businesses, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.
This particular role initially sits within the Financial Accounting and Tax area with a core focus on:
- Ledger closes
- VAT return preparation
- Intercompany reconciliations and forecasting
- Maintaining fixed asset register, including the creation, disposal and depreciation of assets
GRNI reconciliation
- Approval of AP corrections
- Maintaining other specific tax and regulatory requirements such as plastic packaging tax, Seafish levy, TSS declarations, etc (note that this excludes corporation tax and payroll-related taxes)
- Ad hoc financial accounting and tax related tasks
All team members will also be required to review weekly payment runs, to support other Shared Services team members regarding specific finance queries, to contribute to the audit process and to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
The Ideal Candidate

- GCSEs / A Levels / AAT L3 required (L4 desirable)
- Previous experience of working within a finance team
- MS Dynamics AX experience (desirable)
- Computer literate, including all aspects of Microsoft Office/Office 365
